Petitions to Run for Elected Office

Petitions to run for elected office in the City of Maplewood are now available from the Deputy City Clerk. 

The following positions are open: Councilperson in Wards 1, 2 and 3.

To be eligible to run for office, you must be a qualified voter of the City of Maplewood, a resident of the city for at least one year prior to the election (April 7, 2020) and a resident of the ward you seek to represent.

The opening date for candidates to file petitions is October 15, 2019 and closes November 19, 2019. Hours of filing are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you are interested, you must pick up a nominating petition from the Deputy City Clerk and acquire 50 signatures of registered voters in your ward.

All signatures on petitions will be verified by the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners.
