Design & Review Board and Historic Preservation Commission
Duties
Advises the City Council on all requests for rezoning, re-subdivisions, site plan approval, and conditional use permits (C.U.P.s). Reviews all development proposals for compatibility with various architectural, civil engineering and municipal planning standards established by the City. Chapter 12, Article II, Division 2
This is a rigorous working Board that meets monthly.

Submissions
Design & Review Board agenda submissions are due 10 days prior to the meeting date (typically the last or first Monday of the month) you must meet this deadline to be placed on the agenda.
Digital copies of applications, plans, etc. are preferred. PDF's and/or JPEG's can be e-mailed to the staff.

What is needed for the Design & Review Process?
The application requires completing a City of Maplewood Building Permit Application available online.
The following information should be submitted as part of the Design and Review Application:
Site Plan
• address of property
• names of all streets bounding the property
• size and location of all buildings on property
• location of driveways and parking areas
• description of adjacent properties (commercial zones only)
• north arrow
• drawing scale
• building set backs and easements
• slope of property and landscaping
Drawings
• construction drawings and specifications (no interior plans are needed)
• indicate height of existing and proposed structures
• indicate material and color of existing and proposed structures
• building elevations including door and window locations
Photographs

• views of construction site from all major vantage points
Other
• provide manufacturer's literature (if available)
• provide materials samples (if available)
For SIGN REVIEW, the following information should be provided:
Site Plan

Building Elevations
• indicate location and size of signs
• indicate adjacent materials and finishes
Photographs
• location of proposed sign and background
• views from all major vantage points
Shop Drawings
• indicate size of text, individual letters and overall sign length and height
• indicate material and color of all proposed sign components
• indicate type of sign construction and method of attachment or support
